Pet Surgery

We take great pride in offering cutting-edge veterinary surgical techniques.

Safe, Comfortable Pet Surgery at Noble West

We work hard at Noble West Animal Hospital to provide our patients in Noblesville and surrounding areas with the safest surgical practices in veterinary medicine. We recommend blood testing for all pets before any procedure to ensure their optimal safety under anesthesia. We’ll monitor your pet closely with state-of-the-art equipment to measure your pet’s heart rate, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Your pet’s comfort is also a top concern, and we take pre-emptive pain measures during surgery. We perform many soft-tissue surgeries at our animal hospital, and we’ll give you detailed after-care instructions when you bring your loyal companion home.

Surgeries We Perform

We’re skilled at many types of soft-tissue surgery at Noble West Animal Hospital. We advise our clients to refrain from giving their pet food eight to ten hours before any surgery. We’re equipped to perform additional procedures while your pet is under anesthesia. If you need your pet microchipped (which we highly recommend) or if they’re ready for a dental cleaning, we can perform multiple procedures in just one visit. Surgeries we perform include:

  • Spay and neuter
  • Foreign body removal
  • Mass removal
  • Wound repair
  • Cystotomy (to treat bladder problems)
  • Enucleation (for cataracts and glaucoma)
  • Entropion eye repair (to alleviate cornea irritation)

Caring for Your Pet After Surgery

We take your pet’s after-care seriously. We’ll send you home with the appropriate pain medications and give you thorough at-home care instructions. To make your pet’s incision site extra secure, we commonly use absorbable sutures underneath the site on top of stitches. We’ll remove the sutures in eight to ten days when we check up on their overall well-being. We like our clients to keep some things in mind while they care for their pets at home. You’ll likely take the medication home, and it’s important you administer it to your pet as prescribed. Do not crush or empty capsule contents into food because this can inhibit absorption into their bloodstream. Ask us to demonstrate how to help your pet swallow the medication or use pill pockets. Other at-home advice includes:

  • Refrain from giving your pet a bath for 10 to 14 days after surgery and after stitches are removed.
  • Check your pet’s incision site daily and watch for any signs of infection, like unusual redness and discharge.
  • Distract your pet from licking the incision site with treats, or use a medical collar.
  • Give your pet a quiet, comfortable place to recover for at least 24 hours.
